KANOWIT: The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) is currently studying the need to provide more dialysis services in health clinics and hospitals in rural areas said Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni.

The Deputy Health Minister said rural areas in Sarawak such as Kanowit, Song, and Kapit are in great need of dialysis services with a large number of patients and limited facilities.

“Machan assemblyman Allan Siden Gramong also mentioned the insufficient dialysis units in Kanowit, as well as in Song and Kapit.

“We are currently assessing how to provide larger spaces for dialysis units and examining the suitability of clinic designs for the new generation at the Sarawak State Health Department (JKNS),” he said.

He said this when interviewed during a working visit to Ngungun Health Clinic and Nanga Machan Health Clinic in Kanowit recently.

Earlier, Lukanisman also visited several health clinics and hospitals in Kapit, Song, and Kanowit.

The Sibuti MP added that there is a need to expand Kapit Hospital where the proposal will be brought to the attention of the Health Ministry.

“At Sibu Hospital, we have implemented several projects which were approved in the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK-12).

“While in Spaoh, the Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas is interested in exploring a cooperation concept between the Sarawak and Federal governments to establish at least a Type Four clinic in Spaoh. We will also look into the Sri Aman Hospital,” he said.
