More aid coming Uma Bakah Resettlement way

Ling hands over a donation from Harbour-Link Group to Pemanca Tony Kulleh to be distributed to fire victims at the Uma Bakah Resettlement Scheme, Sungai Asap, Belaga.

BINTULU: Fire victims at the Uma Bakah Resettlement Scheme, Sungai Asap, Belaga continue to receive attention from the government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to ease the burden they bear.

Today, Harbour-Link Group Berhad handed over donations in the form of necessities and basic goods to the fire victims in the resettlement scheme.

The contribution under the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) was presented by Harbour-Link Group representative, Ling Chong Heng to Pemanca Tony Kulleh representing the victims of the fire at the settlement scheme’s town hall.

According to Ling, this donation is the company’s initiative to ease the burden of fire victims.

“Although this donation is not much, I am confident that it can help the victims, especially in terms of providing basic necessities for their families.

“I hope all the victims persevere in the face of these allegations and continue to try to live a new life,” he said.

In the fire incident at about 2 pm, last Thursday, a block comprising 15 doors in the Uma Bakah resettlement scheme, Sungai Asap, Belaga was 100 per cent destroyed by fire while one door of a residence in Block E was 45 per cent ruined.

The quick action of the Volunteer Fire Force (PBS) of Uma Daro Liling, Sungai Asap, Belaga managed to prevent the fire that burned Block F of the relocation scheme from spreading to other blocks.

The fire caused 68 occupants consisting of 30 adult women, 24 adult men and 14 children to be homeless

No injuries or loss of life were reported.
