KUCHING: The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Kuching District assures that it would minimise the shortage of blood supply during festive seasons.

More volunteers or blood donors are therefore needed especially when there is an emergency situation.

According to the district chairman Datuk Dr Abang Abdul Rauf Abang Zain, MRC has always been prepared to collect blood from volunteers.

“The MRC is always up to task to collect and supply blood to the Sarawak General Hospital’s Blood Bank and other private hospitals,” he said during an interview held at the SGH.

“Sometimes, what we worry most are the rare blood types. With the help of MRC’s database collected throughout the years from previous donors, we are able to provide aid for rare blood type cases.

“The most important is to close the gap with volunteers, in terms of creating a mutual relationship between MRC and the public to ‘Save Lives’.”

Meanwhile, MRC’s honorary secretary Ng Liang Yew said that the aims of MRC are to help and save lives.
