More PPVs to be set up in Bintulu

Date:

KUCHING: The authorities in Bintulu has identified several more locations to set up Covid-19 vaccination centres (PPV), said its MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

“These include the BDA Kidurong Sports Centre, the Anglican Church multipurpose hall in Kidurong and the vacant space on the ground floor of the PPR Bandaria Park.

“The PPV at the BDA Kidurong Sports Centre will be opened on July 5, targeting to vaccinate about 15,000 residents in the Sungai Plan area,” he said in a statement on Sunday (July 4).

Tiong said the PPR Bandaria Park PPV was also set up to avoid unnecessary travel and ease of access for its 3,000 residents to the Covid-19 vaccine. He said all residents are expected to receive their first dose of vaccine jabs within two days.

“The PPV of the Kidurong Anglican Church multipurpose hall is scheduled to operate from July 7 to 9, focusing on residents in the Kidurong RPR area (Phase 1-5).

“This PPV is for those who have not registered for vaccination or who have registered through the MySejahtera application but have not received their appointment,” he said.

At the same time, the MP appealed to residents in the locations involved to cooperate with the vaccination team when a census is conducted for appointment scheduling.

“They consist of officers from the Bintulu Health Office, the heads of the flat blocks in Sungai Plan and PPR Bandaria Park and the office,” he said.

Tiong also urged the public not to flock to vaccination centres if they have not been notified of their appointment.

“Everyone needs to ensure a high level of compliance with vaccination standard operating procedures (SOPs) in order to keep everyone safe,” he said.
