More sponsorship received for blood donation drive

MIRI: The Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA) on Saturday received 100 500-ml bottles of Merris Red Palm Oil Classic from Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOPB) for its coming blood drive.

The campaign is scheduled for from 9am to 1pm Sunday (January 3) at Megamall Miri.

Presenting the sponsorship on behalf of SOPB was its plantation controller, Ko Ung Hu, while NSJA was represented by its president, Andy Jong Wan Joon.

According to Jong, the blood drive is part of NJSA’s activities to fulfil its corporate social responsibilities (CSR).

Since 2019, NSJA has organised five blood donation drives which have received strong support from Miri Hospital, Miri Hospital Blood Bank, Miri Fire and Rescue Department Zone 6, Malaysian Red Crescent Society Miri Branch and Emerson Media Co, Shun Shen Lee Trading Sdn Bhd, Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad, Regal Marketing & Trading Sdn Bhd (Indocafe), Maestro Swiss Trading (Vico) and Miri Megamall Star,” he said.

The blood donation drive is for helping Miri Hospital’s blood bank to meet the needs of the community.

Each blood donor will receive a 5kg bag of rice, 500ml Merris Red Palm Oil Classic, Goodies Bag (Indocafe and Vico), certificate of appreciation, ang pow envelope, and limited edition calendar from NSJA.

Strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be enforced during the drive as required by the State Disaster Management Committee.

Telang Usan Assemblyman Dennis Ngau is expected to officially launch the event.
