KUCHING: Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) intends to hold more sports science conferences and seminars in the state in the near future.

Its CEO Dr Ong Kong Swee said such approach is essential in positioning Sarawak as a sports powerhouse in Malaysia.

“We are trying to bring more of these conferences on sports science to Sarawak,” he said when officiating at the closing of the 6th International Conference on Movement, Health and Exercise (Mohe) & 12th International Sports Science Conference (Issc) 2019 at a renowned hotel here yesterday.

“In fact, we have already won a few biddings and will host the International Congress of Asia Pacific Sports Psychology Association (Aspasp) from June 27-30 in 2022.

Ong thanked the Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and Assistant Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan for facilitating the organisation of the conference.
