More than 140 villages involved

KUCHING: More than 140 villages are involved in road upgrading projects under Projek Rakyat, revealed Local Government Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil.

He said the projects were announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg last year and is being implemented by the Public Works Department (JKR) according to each zone.

“For the Marudi constituency, the Projek Rakyat for village roads are being implemented,” he said in a Facebook post on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday, the Marudi assemblyman attended a dialogue session with longhouse heads and residents of Sungai Mallang.

Among the topics discussed during the session were issues pertaining to Native Customary Rights (NCR) land, the role of community leaders and current political issue.

During the function, Penguang presented Minor Rural Project (MRP) funds to the village safety and development committee (JKKK) of Rumah Christopher Rajau (RM15,000) and another RM5,000 to its Women Bureau.

Meanwhile another RM15,000 was presented to JKKK Rumah Arik China and RM5,000 to its Women Bureau.

He also presented allocations to JKKK Rumah Chaing Sg Peking (RM15,000), JKKK Rumah James Udit (RM20,000), Persatuan Tuai Rumah Beluru (RM30,000), Tokong Dashen Kong Lapok (RM10,000) and PIBG SK Sungai Selepin (RM10,000).

Also receiving the allocations were Women Bureau of Rumah Lua Sg Bakas (RM5,000), Gereja BEM Rumah Labo Sungai Seputi (RM10,000) and JKKK Rumah Tanjung Sg Biar (RM10,000).

Penguang also presented Sarawak Poor Home Improvement Programme (PPRMS) grants worth RM16,000 to JKKK Rumah Juliana Esah Sg Mallang Atas, RM18,000 to JKKK Rumah Beruang Sg Buri, RM37,000 to JKKK Rumah Nora Ree Sg Buri and RM29,000 to JKKK Rumah Saba ak Bagus Sg Selepin.

Meanwhile, another RM14,000 were presented to JKKK Rumah James Ansi Dg Buloh, RM29,000 to JKKK Rumah Jemat Apa Sg Sebindang and RM 35,465 to JKKK Rumah Ngelingkong.
