BALINGIAN: The RM5 million Medan Selera Mateding when operational will be more than just a food court.

It is poised to be a popular rest stop for commuters along the Mukah-Balingan-Bintulu and Sibu coastal road and the economic motivator for the locals.

“An open area at food court would be turned into a pasar tamu (market) where the locals would be allowed to do business,” said Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi.

Dalat and Mukah District Council will manage the food court and those keen to do business at the premises including at the pasar tamu will have to submit their applications to the council.

He said the food court, at KM30 Mukah-Balingian Road, would be OKU-friendly as there will be two units of toilets purposely built for people with disabilities (OKUs).

Located not far from the junction of Selangau-Mukah-Selangau-Balingian road, the food court, sprawled on 2.38-acre site will also have ample parking spaces.
