JULAU: The existence of more vaccination centres in the rural areas of Meluan constituency will speed up herd immunity, said Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat Jubin.

There was no need for people to go to Julau, Pakan or Sarikei for their vaccinations.

“There is no target date but if possible, we want the vaccines to be given to the people here as soon as possible.

“Vaccines are important for fighting the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said during a visit to the vaccination centre at the Nanga Kemalih Health Clinic at Ulu Entabai on Friday.

During his visit, 320 people from 12 longhouses nearby received their first dose of vaccines.

Rolland was happy with the good response to the vaccination programme.

He pointed out that the vaccination centre at Nanga Kemalih was one of the rural jab centres that provided injections to the people.

He added that the Sarikei Divisional Health Office had also set up vaccination centres at Nanga Entaih and Nanga Ensiring in Meluan.

“This is to speed up the vaccination process to the people in rural areas. I would like to thank our frontline staffs who are committed to this vaccination programme,” said Rolland.
