More batches of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccines arrive at the Kuching International Airport (KIA).

KUCHING: More batches of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccines arrived at the Kuching International Airport (KIA) yesterday evening.

Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said some 54,000 doses of the vaccine would be for the children aged five to 11 under the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids).

“Thanks to Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and the COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) for the smooth collaboration in getting the PICK and PICKids going,” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday (March 10).

Dr Sim, who is also the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor, said the good effort of the teachers, parents, and children had enabled the smooth rollout of the PICKids.

“In 2020, people were waiting for the vaccines. In 2021, vaccines were waiting for the people.

“We all need to play our role and do our part in our fight against the Omicron COVID-19 variant. Let’s fight the disease together,” he said.
