Morning fire destroys unattended car in Lundu

The aftermath of the afternoon fire that destroyed a parked car in Samajaya Industrial Park yesterday (Sept 9).

LUNDU: An unattended vehicle parked by the roadside near Kampung Tanjam, Jalan Biawak, met a fiery end in the early hours of today (Sept 10).

The incident happened around 6.35am and firemen from Lundu station were promptly despatched to the scene, some 16km away from the station.

Upon arrival, they were met with the sight of a Perodua Kancil engulfed in flames, with no sign of its owner in sight.

The extinguishing deed was carried out and the operation ended at 7.15am.

In a similar incident, an afternoon fire yesterday (Sept 9) reduced a parked Proton Gen 2 to ashes in Samajaya Industrial Park.

The 2.18pm fire was successfully extinguished by the production plant workers using a fire extinguisher and water from a fire hydrant.

Firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya station were dispatched to gather information and ensure the safety of the area before returning to their station.

The cause of the fires and losses incurred is still under investigation.
