MOSCOW: Russia will never stoop down to giving ‘unflattering assessments’ of foreign leaders or insulting them in contrast to US President Joe Biden who let himself speak harshly about Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Sputnik.

“We will never stoop down to giving any unflattering assessments of heads of other states or even insulting leaders and heads of other states.

“Heads of other states allowed themselves to do such things, we will not follow the suit,” Peskov said.

The spokesman added that countries’ leaders could be assessed only by their own citizens.

Since the beginning of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, Western countries and their leaders have repeatedly criticised Putin and other Russian high-ranking officials, sometimes resorting to undiplomatic expressions.

In particular, the US leader referred to President Putin as ‘a butcher’ in March, adding that he could not remain in power in Moscow. – BERNAMA
