Mosque brings festive cheer to needy

SIMUNJAN: Masjid Darul Ibadah of Kampung Semariang Lama has supported 27 asnaf (poor) families in Kampung Pulau Salak and 24 mualaf (Muslim converts) from Kampung Nyelitak here through the Kembara Ramadan programme recently.

The programme involves the distribution of food supplies, such as rice, flour, sugar, milk, biscuits and others, to those who are in need or affected by the Covid-19 pandemic during the month of Ramadan.

Head of the Kembara Ramadan programme representatives cum Masjid Darul Ibadah deputy secretary Awang Razak Awang Hamdan said through the programme, they will be able to channel funds to the community to alleviate their burdens.

“This is the second phase of the programme, the continuation of the first phase which was implemented in 2019.

“We will always keep track of the mosque’s latest development through various ways such as the Bijak Iqra programme,” he said after presenting the donation to Masjid Al-Falah at Kampung Nyelitak here.

Meanwhile, he said the current edition of the Kembara Ramadan programme also contributed financial assistance to Masjid Darul Muslimin at Kampung Salak and Surau Al-Hijrah at Sungai Tapang.

“I would like to thank the benefactors for helping and supporting the asnaf and Muslim converts.

Meanwhile, Harakah Islamiah (Hikmah) Kampung Nyelitak area supervisor Mohd Ridzuan Amer Abdullah expressed his gratitude towards the contribution by Masjid Darul Ibadah.

“As a preacher, I want everyone to be able to enjoy the contribution because not everyone who lives here has a monthly salary.

“This assistance can ease their burdens in preparing themselves to welcome the arrival of Ramadan and Aidilfitri,” he said.
