SARIKEI: The Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project to upgrade the infrastructure of Masjid Darul Saadah at Taman Susur Jambu here – equipped with mortuary management room, washrooms, and ablution area – is now complete and can be used by locals.

The symbolic handing over of the project site by the contractor to the mosque management committee represented by Masjid Darul Saadah committee chairman Yakup was attended by Tanjung Manis MP Yusuf Abdul Wahab on Tuesday (Feb 8).

The Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) in a report said work on the RTP project worth RM200,000 by the contractor, Venda Company, commenced on July 30 last year and it was completed on Dec 29.

Yusuf said another RM200,000 had been approved by the prime minister through a special project which he had requested to improve other facilities at Masjid Darul Saadah, such as car park and wall fencing.

Earlier, the MP also attended the Agricultural Input Assistance hand-over ceremony at the Sarikei Division Agriculture Office, presenting agricultural input assistance amounting to RM81,510 to 21 farmers.

Agricultural input assistance is an ongoing initiative by the Sarawak government to help farmers increase their agricultural yields as well as their income.

Yusuf thanked the Agriculture Office for managing and distributing the Agriculture Facilitation Fund (AFF) despite the obstacles and difficulties faced.

He also hoped that the recipients would benefit from the assistance channelled and use it to increase their agricultural yields.
