KUCHING: The contribution of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to the formation and stability of the Malaysian government should be acknowledged, said Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing.

“In my opinion, it would be most appropriate if a GPS MP is given the opportunity to hold the deputy prime minister position.

“This is because acknowledging GPS’ contribution to the formation and stability of the Malaysian government is important.

“In politics, acknowledgment comes in a form of position given to a party which contributes to the stability,” he added in a statement today (Aug 18).

Masing, who is also Infrastructure and Ports Development Minister and Baleh assemblyman, was commenting about speculations on social media and news portals on Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi as a possible deputy prime minister nominee.
