Most calls were to catch snakes, discloses Betong APM

DEBAK: Betong Civil Defence Force (APM) has received 278 emergency calls over the past year, mostly cases involving snakes.

Betong APM officer 2nd Lt Desem Samuel said they would respond to every emergency “swiftly and without fail.”

He said this after an operation to catch a two-foot-long python in Debak on Tuesday (Jan 3).

“Of the total number of emergency calls, 114 or 41 per cent were to catch snakes.

“Followed by 84 cases of getting rid of insect hives while the rest involved helping the sick, road accident victims, fires and drowning.

“One call was made involved a case of fighting.”

Regarding the current inclement weather, 2nd Lt Desem advised the public to remain vigilant.
