KUCHING: Eighty percent of the worship places in Bau has been disinfected, revealed Bau Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Senior Assistant Fire Superintendant Tawang Lingem.

He said 20 mosques and suraus as well as 40 churches in Bau had been disinfected.

“The sanitising work was carried out at the requests of the community heads (Kapitan) and village headmen. We also receive the directive to sanitise worship places from Bomba headquarters,” he told reporters at Siniawan Night Market in Bau on Wednesday (June 17).

However, the department, said Tawang, had yet to receive any request from Buddhist temples. 

He also revealed that 60 percent of the schools in Bau had been sanitised.

“We also received requests from schools   to disinfect them for the second time.

“Since we are unable to meet the requests, we will demonstrate the sanitising work to the teachers and district education office this week,” he added.
