A video of the bullying incident has gone viral on social media since Monday.

Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah yesterday confirmed that the police had received the report lodged by the boy’s mother.

One of the attackers, a secondary school student, was detained yesterday after the report was lodged.

Lim also confirmed that the police had identified the boys in the video.

“One of the attackers is a student of a secondary school in Miri while four others are former students of the same school,” he revealed.

The bullying incident is believed to have taken place on July 8 inside a vacant building somewhere in Miri.

Lim added that the case was being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.

“Our initial investigations revealed that the bullying incident happened after the suspects became angry with the victim. He had told a shop owner that they were stealing food from his premises,” said Lim.
