Mother, son made homeless in fire

MUKAH: A mother and her son managed to escape a fiery death after their house in Kampung Bakong Oya, was engulfed in flames yesterday.

The 10 am incident caused the victims aged 64 and 38, to be homeless but luckily both tenants did not sustain any injuries during their escape.

A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Mukah station were promptly deployed to the scene to commence extinguishing works.

Upon arriving, they found that the house was beyond saving.

The flames were brought under control around 10.40 am and it was fully extinguished minutes later.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team wrapped up the operation and headed back to their station.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
