KUCHING: Some mothers stood out at this year’s Mother’s Day celebration which was held at Riverside Majestic Hotel here yesterday.
The event highlight was the presentation of the “Ibu Gemilang”(Glorious Mother) award.
There were two recipients of the award – Chong Mui Na and Nur Damia Yusuf Muhammad Alamin. Both were mothers of disabled children.
Two other mothers, namely, Amisya Shifa Zulfitri and Nur Dhia Darwina Mohamad Sabri from GPS Ranting, Samariang Jaya Phase 2 Lorong Bentara, Jalan Sultan Tengah were also honoured at the event.
Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Assistant Minister Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, who graced the celebration on behalf of the Chief Minister’s wife Datuk Amar Juma’ni Tun Datuk Tuanku Bujang, accompanied the 400 participants through some very exciting moments.
They were entertained with fashion shows, live music performances and a High-Tea.
The event, which was organised by “Persatuaan Masakan Kuih Muih Sarawak” in conjunction with the Department of Women and Family Sarawak, Kuching Branch, was the perfect ‘Thank you’ to mothers everywhere for being mothers.
