SRI AMAN: One person died in an accident involving a truck and a motorcycle at KM 29 San Tabut Sri Aman-Sarikei road on Friday.

In a statement, Sri Aman police chief, Deputy Superintendent Mathew Manggie, said the accident occurred around 4.20 pm.

“The accident happened when the motorcyclist and his pillion, travelling from Engkilili towards Sri Aman, collided with a dog crossing the road.

“The motorcycle then veered into the middle of the road, causing both the motorcyclist and pillion to fall and be run over by a bonded truck coming from behind.

“The pillion was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from the Engkilili Health Clinic.

Meanwhile, the motorcyclist is being treated at Sri Aman Hospital,” the statement read.

The police are investigating the case under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
