KUCHING: A motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment after colliding with a four-wheel drive vehicle along Jalan Gedong-Simunjan, on Wednesday morning (May 19).

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the accident occurred when the 40-year-old victim was entering a junction towards a farm in Sungai Kerang.

He said the pickup truck was driven by a 68-year-old man heading towards Simunjan from Gedong.

“As a result of the collision, the victim suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the Gedong Health Clinic while the driver of the vehicle did not suffer any injury.

“The incident is believed to have occurred when the driver failed to dodge the motorcyclist when the latter was making a turn at the junction,” he said in a statement.

Alexson added that preliminary investigation at the scene found that the accident took place on the Gedong main road towards Simunjan.

“Road conditions are straight and no other vehicles were passing by. The weather was nice and sunny.
