KUCHING: A motorcyclist died in a road collision last Saturday between a Proton Wira and a Modenas motorcycle.

The incident happened when both car and motorcycle collided while the victim was trying to make a U-turn at a traffic light at 12th Mile, Jalan Kuching/Serian.

Ujat Keong, 61 was pronounced dead at the scene while the car driver escaped unhurt.

Sarawak Traffic Investigations and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said that the crash was caused when the motorcyclist suddenly made a U-turn at the traffic light.

“Investigations led to the victim suddenly making a U-turn to return home to Goodwill Park when the traffic light was green in the opposite direction.

“As a result, the vehicle, which was traveling in a different direction, collided with the motorcycle that the victim was on,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Alexson added that the rider suffered serious injuries to his neck and body and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the victim was sent to the Sarawak General Hospital for further actions while both the car and motorcycle was taken to Padawan Police Station for inspection by Puspakom and the Chemistry Department.
