KUCHING: A motorcyclist was killed in an accident along Jalan Astana, Petra Jaya here on Wednesday (April 20).
Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Bingkok John said the motorcyclist, aged 43, collided with a lorry and died on the scene due to serious head injuries.
He said the 7.45am accident took place when the victim was riding his motorcycle near the Kuching Courthouse roundabout towards Lorong Petra 1, Jalan Astana.
“The victim, who was riding alone, then rode into the opposite lane and collided with a lorry.”
He added that initial investigation found that the victim was at fault for the crash due to negligence.
“The victim’s body was then taken to the Sarawak General Hospital Forensics Unit for further action.”
Meanwhile, he said the driver of the lorry, a 65-year-old man, was not injured.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.”
