KUCHING: A man was fined RM1,500 after he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol last Tuesday.

Magistrate Shukri Mokhtar fined Abang Mohd Ibrahim, 31, who was charged with drink driving on August 12.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the driver was stopped by police during an operation codenamed Ops Mabuk at Jalan Pandungan here at 11.50pm on August 12.

“A breathalyser test was conducted on the accused, which showed positive results,” he said.

Alexson said the motorist was later taken to Sarawak General Hospital to obtain his blood samples for further test.

“The test results showed that the suspect had a blood alcohol concentration level of 182mg/100ml, exceeding the 102mg allowable limit of blood alcohol concentration,” he added.
