Motorist killed in two-vehicle crash

KOTA SAMARAHAN: A 24-year-old motorist was killed in a collision involving a car and a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle at Jalan Entiggan-Nangka here early last Friday.

Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the accident occurred at 5.15am when both vehicles were travelling in opposite directions.

The victim identified as Chong Poh Pin, 24, was travelling to Kampung Pinang, when he is believed to have lost control of his car and collided with a 4WD vehicle travelling to Kota Samarahan.

“As a result of the collision, the victim’s car fell into a ditch and the 4WD vehicle ended by the roadside.

“Firefighters were alerted to the scene to extricate the victim from the car, however, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene,” Alexson said.

The victim’s body was taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further actions.

The 4WD driver, aged 59, was unharmed in the incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
