The Motorola Razr could make a comeback in 2019.

Before the render of Motorola’s upcoming Razr was removed from Chinese social media platform Weibo, Slashleaks saved the images and uploaded them onto their site for the world to see.

Earlier this year, the Wall Street Journal reported that Motorola could be reviving their most iconic model of the 2000s, with a modern twist: the Razr could be resurrected with a folding display.

Slashleaks, the tech website known for its reliable device renders and rumours, obtained a new Razr render from Chinese social media platform Weibo, which has since removed the image.

The Motorola Razr could make a comeback in 2019.

The picture shows that the model will stay true to the original Razr design that defined the phone industry in 2005; however, when open, a folding touch display will span the entire interior from top to bottom. Nonetheless, fans can rest assured that this new model is expected to sport that iconic Razr chin.

In contrast to Samsung’s Galaxy Fold which doubles as a tablet and has faced so many technical issues that the launch was delayed by weeks, the next Razr will simply unfold to become a standard-sized touchscreen smartphone.

While technical specs about the device are virtually nonexistent, the WSJ reported that the model will likely cost around US$1,500 and manufacturing will be limited to 200,000 models, a shockingly low limit considering that over one hundred million units were sold of the original model. – Relaxnews
