KOTA SAMARAHAN: A preliminary memorandum of understanding (MoU) on funding allocations for the opposition is still being drafted, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

He said the draft requires approval from the Unity Government Secretariat Supreme Leadership Council before proceeding.

“The draft must go through several stages before a final decision is made.

“After being approved by the council, the draft will then be distributed to opposition representatives,” he said during the Stakan assemblyman Datuk Hamzah Brahim’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at the Stakan Service Centre, here on Sunday.

Fadillah said once the draft is distributed, the opposition representatives will evaluate it.

“They will evaluate whether they agree with the allocation provided or if they want to make amendments or others,” he said.

If it is agreed to by the opposition representatives, the council then will make a final decision, he said.

On Thursday, it was reported that the Unity Government Secretariat Supreme Leadership Council has agreed to consider allocating funds to opposition representatives during a meeting held at Sri Perdana, Putrajaya recently.
