PADAWAN: Sarawak and Singapore are currently discussing scholarship opportunities, trade and investment links, and tourism potential, Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities Datuk Willie Mongin said.

The Puncak Borneo member of parliament (MP) said the economic opportunities and tourism potential would also benefit his constituents.
“We can see the tourism potential of Puncak Borneo which we can showcase and share with Singaporeans.

“We have very good bilateral and economic ties. Both Malaysia, in particular Sarawak, and Singapore have worked pretty well together and we would like to enhance our ties,” he said after receiving a courtesy call from Deputy High Commissioner of Singapore Shivakumar Nair and Singapore High Commission First Secretary (Political) Yong Xin Tian at the Puncak Borneo Service Centre, today (July 12).

Nair, meanwhile, hoped the discussions between both sides would be fruitful.

“I’m really hopeful we can find something concrete so that we can push the agenda forward and uplift ties between Singapore and Sarawak (and of course, Malaysia),” he said.
