KUCHING: The Air Pollution Index (API) was at a moderate level as of Tuesday (Aug 2).

The highest API reading was recorded at Mukah (87) and Tebedu (83), with Kuching and Sibu both at 80.

Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii encouraged the public to continue monitoring the API reading on a daily basis.

“We understand that the haze situation is going to get worse in the coming days due to the open burning in Kalimantan, Indonesia and also the dry weather in Sarawak.

“We are hoping that everybody stays vigilant and of course those who have severe medical issues such as asthma should seek immediate treatment at the hospital.”

“Of course, they have to limit their outdoor activities and make sure they stay indoors as much as possible, and if things gets worse in the coming days, please wear masks to avoid the particles getting inside your lungs,” he said when contacted by New Sarawak Tribune.
