PADAWAN: About 700 Bidayuh Muslims in Kampung Darul Islam Belimbing here (65 km from Kuching City) on Friday (July 31) received the ‘korban’ (sacrificial) meat of a cow donated by Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities II, Willie Mongin in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration.

Willie, who is also Puncak Borneo MP, handed over the cow to the chairman of the village’s mosque management Hussein Banyak, witnessed by the village’s chief Durani Baharum and chairman of the Felcra Berhad Participants Programme in Belimbing Area, Ariffin Mohd Syaid.

The slaughter, butchering and distribution of the sacrificial meat were done after Friday prayers yesterday afternoon (Friday July 31) at the mosque’s compound.

A representative of the villagers, Musa Mohd. Syaid said the slaughtering and distribution of the sacrificial meat were done according to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the Sarawak Islamic Council as a precautionary measure to prevent Civid-19 virus infection.

The villagers thanked Willie for his donation and hoped he would always help the Muslims here in the future.

“This is his second contribution since he was elected as the Puncak Borneo MP,” said Hussein.

Kampung Darul Islam Belimbing Mosque also received several cows from the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) as well as donations from several individuals.

A total of 11 cows imported from Australia were distributed to the entire Muslim community in the Puncak Borneo Parliamentary constituency for that purpose.
