RM100K allocation not for Covid-19 crisis

KUCHING: Subang MP Wong Chen might have got the wrong information when he said that Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had approved a special allocation of RM100,000 for opposition MPs to assist in the Covid-19 crisis, said  Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak chairman Larry Sng.

“The RM100,000 is for development fund and was approved for all opposition MPs under Pakatan Harapan (PH),” he explained.

Sng, who is also the Julau MP, said as such, the allocation was not for the Covid-19 crisis.

On March 30, Wong Chen in his Facebook post said he received confirmation on the RM100,000 allocation from the Prime Minister’s Office.

He said the amount would last the MPs one whole year, and he intended to use it all within the crisis period.

Wong added that he was doing his very best to assist the people in his area as many families had run out of food supplies during the movement control (MCO) period.

“Food supplies haven’t reached the people and some families have to borrow food from their neighbours but that, too, is running low. Everybody is affected,” he said.
