PETALING JAYA: The painting of MPs depicting them as apes and frogs in parliament caused a stir in the social media and the buzz hasn’t died down.

Rengit assemblyman and Umno Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi, in a Facebook post, has offered to buy the painting with the intention to gift it to the national museum for public viewing.

The painting which caught the attention of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, now sits in his private study. The palace had earlier said that the sultan had planned to auction it one day and donate the proceeds to charity.

While most social media users responded positively to the painting, Amanah vice-president and former religious affairs minister Mujahid Yusof Rawa was reported saying it went against Islamic teachings.
