KUCHING: Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni is setting his sights on making sure that the Sarawak National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) continues to be relevant to youth throughout the state.

The newly appointed Saberkas vice-president said he is seeking an approach to involve more youth with Saberkas programmes as well as groom new leaders.

“I am humbled to receive the appointment for the position of Saberkas vice president for the 2020-2023 from new Saberkas president Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

“I receive the appointment with an open heart and ensure that the organisation will remain relevant to youth in Sarawak,” he said in a Facebook post on today.

Lukanisman said among his short-term targets is to work on a rejuvenation process for Saberkas, adding that it is crucial that its approach moving forward is to target more youth involvement in the organisation.

“I believe the president is demanding a huge commitment (from myself) without it interfering with my task as Sibuti MP.

“I will be cooperating together with other Saberkas exco members who were appointed and elected to the best of my abilities,” he said.

The MP also pledged that he will continue to serve his constituents dutifully aside from his new role in Saberkas.
