MIRI: Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni has lauded Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg’s plan for Sarawak’s Covid-19 economic exit strategy, saying it was a smart approach.

Lukanisman, who is also Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia (Seda) chairman, said the steps reflected the state’s seriousness and commitment to uplift the socioeconomic development of the people.

“I believe that by adopting the digital economy approach as a new platform of economic growth, it will create more economic and employment opportunities for Sarawak, especially the young people,” he opined.

He said the government also needed to expand the incentives related to digital economy, especially the use of e-wallet applications as well as computer coding system in early childhood learning.

“I believe that the creation of Big Data Sarawak (Big Data) will help to strengthen the existing government delivery system.”

Hence, he urged the Sarawak government to intensify the installation of telecommunication towers as well as to increase Internet redemption rates, especially in the rural areas.
