KUCHING: More facilities at Kapit Hospital and rural areas need to be expedited.

Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong said as such he would suggest that the Ministry of Health place a computed tomography or CT Scan machine at Kapit Hospital.

“Otherwise, they (folks) have to go back and forth to Sibu just to get such facilities. Therefore, I appeal and urged that this request can be expedite,” he said during the debate on the First Operating and Development Expenditure Supplementary Bill (2019) Estimates in Parliament on Tuesday (Aug 11).

He added that during Deputy Minister of Health II Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang’s visit to Kapit, he had also looked into the matter.

“Health is a basic thing that is provided free of charge by the federal government. And my effort is to ensure that people in the rural areas should also receive the health treatment equivalent to those in the urban area,” he said.

On the matter of education, he urged that the additional allocation allocated through the Hotel Food Assistance (BMA) for the boarding schools such as SMK Selirik, SMK Baleh and throughout the state, be done immediately.

He said he had always raised the issue on education in the rural areas as he himself had gone through the process.

“Since I was raised in the rural areas, I went through all the bitter moments in life until I am able to become a MP today.

“But, I do not want this painful experience that I went through decades ago be faced by today’s generation,” he said.
