KUCHING: Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) is awaiting the Local Government and Housing Ministry’s decision on the Ramadan bazaar.

“As soon as the ministry says no go, the local councils will follow and obey the order as we always do,” said chairman Datuk Peter Minos.

He added the council would still wait for the ministry’s decision even though Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in Kuala Lumpur had said that the annual Ramadan bazaar would be put on hold this year.

However, he personally felt that so long as the Covid-19 infections and deaths continued to rise,   all crowd gatherings and meetings must be avoided.

“If there are no gatherings, the virus will not spread.

“We must fully comply with the movement control order (MCO) and its rules even though they do cause some inconveniences.

“If everyone faithfully adheres to the MCO, we will be able to beat and vanquish the silent but deadly virus,” added Minos.
