KOTA PADAWAN: The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) was awarded ISO 9001:2015 certification for Quality Management Systems by SIRIM QAS International.
Speaking at a press conference here, MPP secretary, Andrew Joris Noyen said the council, like other organisations, had implemented its ISO some two years back.
“Last year we reviewed our ISO procedures and SIRIM came to audit it. So after the audit, we were awarded the ISO 9001:2015 certification.
“This is the recognition given to us and our (council) activities are being documented in accordance to the ISO standard. With this certification, the council will be reviewed every year,” he said, adding that the validity of the certification is for four years from 2016-2020.
Meanwhile, MPP chairman, Lo Khere Chiang said, “It is not easy to get this ISO certification. Without good staff and officers, you cannot get things done. So, we have a lot of good staff and officers in this council and that is why we can achieve a lot.
“Not anybody can obtain ISO certification. We have to put in a lot of efforts into the management system to meet certain requirements. It’s a world standard, not just Kuching standard,” said the Batu Kitang Assemblyman.
Also present at the press conference was MPP Deputy chairman, Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim.
