KUCHING: The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) Foundation has taken a humanitarian step by contributing GBP30,000 (RM155,940) to Malaysian Red Crescent (MRCS) Sarawak.

A statement from MRC Sarawak said the donation would go towards acquiring protective essentials for healthcare frontline workers in Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and for provision of food parcels to the affected people.

LSEG Kuching Charity Committee relationship manager Dayang Amydzweina Awang Almohtar handed over the donation to MRC Sarawak second vice chairman John Lam, here recently.

MRCS Sarawak said as part of the corporate social responsibilities (CSR) of LSEG Foundation, the donation to MRC Sarawak had come just in time to purchase equipment like personal protective equipment (PPE) suits, N95 face masks and respirator cartridges.

“MRC Sarawak has so far supported SGH with 60 full face respirators and one complete OxyMag portable ventilator costing approximately RM100,000,” it said.

MRC volunteers have also assisted in making face shields, hood and foot covers and protective gowns.
