KUCHING: The shortage of medical equipment at Sarikei Hospital is being addressed by the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Sarikei district.

Its chairman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing last Thursday presented donations of medical equipment worth RM76,000 to the hospital.

Among the equipment donated were two units of patient monitor worth RM16,000, four units of vital sign monitor (RM19,200), six units of infusion pump (RM20,400) and six units of syringe pump (RM20, 400).

The medical equipment is distributed to help monitor the health or condition of Covid-19 patients admitted to the hospital.

“The number of patients has been increasing since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in Sarikei,” Ding who is Meradong assemblyman said.

He hoped the donation would ease the burden and facilitate the work of medical officers while carrying out their duties.

Apart from that, he also expressed his appreciation to the front line staff for their sacrifices in working hard to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
