MRP grants for 19 recipients

Dr Nuing hands over the MRP grant to a representative of one of the JKKKs in the Balingian area.

BINTULU: A total of 19 recipients from the Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) of the Selangau area received minor rural project (MRP) grants amounting to RM120,000. The event was held at a simple ceremony at Rumah Petrous Ambun, Lubok Bukut, Balingian, Mukah, yesterday.

The handover of the cheque was done by Senator Datuk Dr Nuing Jeluing representing the Office of the Premier of Sarawak.

In his brief speech, Dr Nuing said the recipients involved JKKKs from the areas of Lubok Bukut, Sungai Duan, Bukit Dinding, Bawan, Mukah and Sungai Anus, Selangau.

According to him, the funds were allocated at by the Sarawak government through the Department of the Premier of Sarawak with the aim of assisting JKKK in implementing development projects such as repairing and carrying out activities in their respective longhouses.

At the same time, he reminded JKKKs to inform the community in their respective areas about the grant amount and not for personal use,” he said.

Dr Nuing explained, the MRP grant received cannot be used for other purposes, but must be according to the purpose of the application.

He added that he would not hesitate to take action against the recipients should they misuse the grant.

“We want every longhouse resident to know that the allocation is accepted and we must be open and transparent in this matter,” he said.
