KUCHING: Newly appointed Malaysian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Datuk Mohamad Sadik Kethergany yesterday paid a courtesy call on Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Ambas at his office at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here.

Mohamad Sadik, 59, is a local from Kuching.

He is among the three new envoys recently appointed.

He started his career as an administrative and diplomatic officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1989.

Mohamad Sadik was the director-general at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) from 2017 prior to his current appointment.

He had also served as the Malaysian Consul-General in New York from 2004 until 2008 and the Undersecretary (Cambodia, Laos PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam) from 2008 until 2009.

Then he was appointed as the Malaysian Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran and then the Malaysian Ambassador to Hungary in 2014.

Before that he had also served in various capacities in the Malaysian High Commissions in Australia, East Europe and Ghana.
