The chemistry student at Imperial College London since 2015 was identified from the student card found on the body, he said.

He said the Malaysian High Commission in London conveyed the news to him early yesterday.

Zainal said he does not have the detailed information about his son’s death except that the body was found in a lake.

He said he and some family members will leave for London today.

Muhammad Hafiz will be buried in London, he said.

According to a dailymail.com.uk report on March 25, the body of a man was recovered from a lake in Hyde Park in what the police are describing as an unexplained death.

Meanwhile, the Public Service Department (PSD) in a statement said Muhammad Hafiz Zainal was a PSD scholar.

The department said its Training Advisory Office in London would work closely with the Malaysian High Commission to assist his family and on the funeral arrangements.

“PSD officers have contacted and visited Muhammad Hafizi’s family and are arranging their travel to London, which is expected to be tomorrow (Wednesday),” the statement said. – Bernama
