KUALA LUMPUR: The national archers finally ended their barren run at the third leg of the Archery Asia Cup in the Philippines on Saturday after bagging four gold medals in the compound event.

In Saturday’s action, the national women’s trios comprising Fatin Nurfatehah Mat Salleh, Nurul Syazhera Mohd Asmi and Iman Aisyah Norazam, delivered Malaysia’s first gold after edging Taiwan trio, Hsu Yen-Hua, Wang Lu-Yun and Weng Yi-Ting; 221-218 in the women’s team event, according to the World Archery Federation website;www.worldarchery.org.

Fatin Nurfatehah later teamed up with Mohd Juwaidi Mazuki to clinch Malaysia’s second gold after defeating siblings from the Philippines, Rachelle Anne and Paul Marton De La Cruz;157-151 in the gold medal match of compound mixed team.

Iman Aisyah Norazam contributed the third gold after beating another host nation archer, Andrea Robles;140-134 in the women’s individual event while Nurul Syazhera took the bronze with a 138-133 victory over Rachelle Anne. – Bernama
