KUANTAN: The Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) plans to open three more entrepreneur centres based on the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) – Centre of 9 Pillars, increasing the number of such centres in the country to a total of five by the end of the year.

MTDC chief executive officer Datuk Norhalim Yunus said the initiative was seen as an initiative to promote cooperation among local entrepreneurs to strengthen industries in various fields in each region.

“The initiative will focus on transforming the major industries in every region towards implementing IR4.0. Along the coast, the most apparent field would certainly be the oil and gas industry, but there are still other industries that we (MTDC) can help to reach the IR4.0 level.

“For example, from the aspects of the food industry technology as well as the green technology where there are several companies which receive funds from the MTDC in Pahang which must improve their product and services to be more efficient based on the IR4.0 technology,” he said.
