KUALA LUMPUR: After exhibiting poor performances in several recent outings, national tenpin bowler, Muhammad Rafiq Ismail is determined rise again to target a podium finish in several upcoming championships.
The 2018 men’s single’s world champion announced he would be participating in the 51st Singapore International Open Championships from June 24-30, Brunswick Madrid Challenge from June 29 to July 7 and the EBT Masters in Spain on July 4.
“My target is to obtain a podium finish in one of the three tournaments as I have not bagged any titles this season.
“I will try to improve my weaknesses by adapting to lane conditions faster and using the right equipment after this,” he told Bernama recently.
In this regard, Muhammad Rafiq revealed the opportunity to clinch a slot in the squad for the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines in November is still open as the head coach has not finalised the eight players for the biennial championship.
The 2018 world champion said the final list would be selected on performance based on the past few tournaments up to September.
The best achievement of Muhammad Rafiq this season was the seventh placing at the World Series of Bowling X Chameleon Championship. – Bernama
