Muhyiddin: RM10 billion aid to help M40 group and below

PUTRAJAYA: The government today agreed to allocate RM10 billion to help those in the M40 group and below affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.

He said the aid will be channelled through the ‘Bantuan Prihatin Nasional’ one-off cash payment, which would also a first for the M40 household income group in terms of cash aid.

“They (recipients) include private-sector employees, Felda settlers, farmers, fishermen, petty traders and all those in the M40 group and below,” he said when announcing the people-centric economic stimulus package (PRIHATIN) here today.

Muhyiddin said the allocations include:

RM1,600 for almost 4 million households with income of RM4,000 and below, of which RM1,000 will be dispensed in April and the balance of RM600 in May.

RM1,000 for almost 1.1 households with income between RM4,000 and RM8,000, with RM500 to be paid in April and the next RM500 in May. 

RM800 for 3 million individuals aged 21 and above with single status and earning RM2,000 and below, in which RM500 will be paid in April 2020 and another RM300 in May.

RM500 for 400,000 aged 21 and above with single status and earning between RM2,000 and RM4,000, with RM250 to be paid in April and the next RM250 in May. – Bernama
