MUKAH: Some 63 contingents of about 4,000 people took part in a street procession marking Mukah Divisional-level Maulidur Rasul celebration.

Contingents bringing along elaborate posters and banners comprised, among others, persons from government departments, agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGO), institutions of higher learning and schools.

The colourful Saturday procession began and ended at Setia Raja Mosque, passing through a few roads covering a distance of about one kilometre.

Guest of honour deputy Mukah Division Resident Abdul Halim Abdullah accompanied by invited guests among others, Mukah District officer Shafrie Saili and penghulu Besiri Keri also joined the procession.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Energy Berhad, Kampung Litong Darul Muttaqin Surau, Dalat and Mukah District Council recreation club Mudak and Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Agama Majlis Islam Sarawak (MIS) Mukah emerged champions in their respective categories in competitions held as part of the procession.

In the banner competition, UiTM, Kampung Judan Nurul Huda Mosque, Sungai Ragei/Pegei Neighbourhood Area (KRT) and SK Agama Majlis MIS Mukah took the first spots in their respective categories.
