Mukah MP lauds tree planting initiatives

TANJUNG MANIS: The Mukah Division Greening Initiative implemented by Mukah administrative division is fully supported by Tanjung Manis MP, Ir Yusuf Abd Wahab.

Yusuf who is also the chairman of the Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) expressed his appreciation to Mukah Resident and Tanjung Manis acting district officer for organising the green initiative programme.

“This programme aims to plant 1,300 trees by September 2024, involving five districts and three sub-districts in Mukah division.

“Today, the planting only involves 570 mangrove saplings of various species, donated by the Sarikei Regional Forest Office,” he said when officiating at the Tanjung Manis District Level Greening Programme here recently.

A total of 100 people were involved in the tree planting programme.

Those involved were officers from state and federal government departments and agencies, community leaders (KMKK) of the Tanjung Manis district as well as local residents.

Meanwhile, the Sarikei Regional Forest Department informed that they have planted 60,000 mangrove saplings in Loba Pulau area, Tanjung Manis District in 2023.

He added that 360 mangrove saplings were planted a few days before this programme was held.
