MIRI: The remand orders issued against six suspects implicated in the murder of George Tang Kee Luang have been extended by six days until Aug 29. Previously, the suspects were remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which expired yesterday.

All six were produced at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday and were represented, except for the third suspect. The order was issued by Registrar of the Subordinate Court Nuur Hafiza Yatim.

Earlier, prosecuting officer ASP Joyce Sagai, urged the court to extend the remand order on the suspects, aged between 23 and 46, to facilitate investigations.

On Aug 15, police detained the suspects following a report of a missing person (George Tang Kee Luang) on June 29. The deceased’s lower half body was found floating in Sungai Niah on July 2 by two crab hunters around 1.30pm.

On Aug 18, a dismantled lorry which belonged to the deceased was retrieved from the bushes in Tukau. Prior to the discovery, the police had found a knife and a bag which belonged to the deceased inside a house in Kampung Lusut.
